About Us

Rotary is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. Approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 32,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas.

Rotary club membership represents a cross-section of the community’s business and professional men and women. The world’s Rotary clubs meet weekly and are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds.

The main objective of Rotary is service in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today’s most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence. They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development. The Rotary motto is Service Above Self.

Rotary Club of Madras Mount was chartered on 18th April 1995.

From the President

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

First and foremost, thank you! Thank you for the giving of your time and resources in an effort to make an impact in our community and in our world. Most importantly, thank you for choosing Rotary as the conduit to make these things happen. We all experience that there are consistently three types of people: leaders, followers, and critics. I am amazed each day how Rotarians represent the majority of the "leaders" in our community. I am blessed to be a part of such a great organization.

Through the leadership of Immediate Past President Rtn. V.Sai Selvam, we now have a better understanding of our club interests as a whole through strategic planning. This year we will take action based on what we have learned in two main areas:

  Membership Development
  Club Services

There are so many other great opportunities to improve and enhance our Rotary experience. This year we have some of the best leaders in our club as committee chairmen and board members. Expect great things in their areas of focus, some large, some subtle, but all important. Thank you for supporting them as well.

I hope you are as excited as I am for the upcoming year. We are counting on your membership and involvement to help us reach our goals. Further, I encourage you to learn and explore the depth of Rotary International and the Rotary Foundation this year. The size and scope is awe inspiring. Be a part.

Look forward to the journey together!

Rtn. PHF Ram N Ramamurthy
President - 2014-15
